What is an Inverter system?

Generally, the running speed of a petrol engine driven alternator changes in accordance with the amount of electrical load it is placed under, resulting in fluctuations in the voltage output and frequency of the electricity generated.
An inverter enables the supply of high quality "sine wave" electricity that is characterized by stable voltage and frequency, thus making it a power source that can be used with precision equipment or m Microcomputer controlled electrical appliances and equipment.

The clean solution

In an inverter system, the AC current is produced within an electrical circuit that subjects the current to a control process known as PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). As a result, fluctuations in engine speed do not affect the voltage or frequency of the electrical output.

The multipolar alternator system

The adoption of a multipolar alternator makes it possible for the alternator to generate highly efficient, , high frequency 3 phase AC current that the inverter then "inverts" into single phase. The high efficiency alternators on a Yamaha inverter 9 generator make it possible to achieve a much lighter and more compact generating unit than conventional 2 pole rotor type alternators.
