After a camper trailer for sale? Some of the benefits you’ll love
Camper trailers have lots of benefits compared to other RVs. Cost-effectiveness is one of their biggest drawcards, as those on a tight budget or looking for their first RV may be able to enter the market.
Camper trailers also have a sturdy construction. Off-road models, in particular, are purposefully designed to withstand challenging terrains and environments. They feature robust construction that’s tailored to navigating off-road tracks and some of Australia’s wilder weather. Knowing you can venture into rugged landscapes also ensures your safety and peace of mind.
Camper trailers offer a hassle-free camping experience with their easy setup and takedown process compared to tent camping. With the camping system and gear already installed as part of the trailer, you won’t need to unload and set up from scratch or dismantle and reload when it’s time to leave. Your camper trailer can also easily be unhitched from your towing vehicle, so you can explore without breaking camp. It’s the perfect combination of convenience and adventure, giving you the flexibility to roam while having a comfy retreat to return to.
Storage-wise camper trailers are also excellent, offering extra storage space above and beyond what will fit in your tow vehicle. You can pack more supplies and stay on the road for longer trips so you can explore — fully equipped — to your heart’s content.

Camper Trailer FAQs
Camper trailers need to be towed and are much smaller than caravans. They generally contain a tent that folds out of the trailer where other equipment is packed. They are ideal for travellers after a lightweight, compact vehicle that is less costly than other RV options. Some have external showers and kitchen areas fitted to the trailer's outside, and they can be used under an awning. All are typically robust and compatible with 4WD’ing adventures and easy to tow and manoeuvre.
Most campervans require nothing more than a regular car, or ‘Class C’ licence, providing the van meets specific requirements. Exceptions are for tow vehicles with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) of 4500 kg or more that require a light truck licence or equivalent to legally drive. If you have a car licence, you can tow anything from a light camper trailer behind a small SUV to a bigger caravan without special training or qualifications. A learner or P1 probationary driver is not usually allowed to tow a caravan, except under particular conditions.
